An extra special award was presented on Sunday. Nick Rutter was presented with a plaque for services to Shropshire Chess over 3 decades.
Nick was appointed rating officer in 1997 and individual controller in 1998. Working quietly behind the scenes Nick ensures that every league game, every tournament, every schools event and every internal club match is sent off each month for rating. He also competantly runs the county individual, which he won for the 14th time this year.
Three decades of continuous service is an incredible contribution to chess in the county, and much of Nick’s work happens quietly in the background, making sure everything gets done.
Thank you, Nick, for everything you have done — and continue to do — for Shropshire Chess!
