To celebrate the 100-year anniversary of the Shropshire County Individual since the trophy was first presented in 1926 the association is inviting past winners to enter the county individual champion of champions tournament.

Eligibility:

This is a closed tournament. Only players who are former winners of the county championship will be eligible to enter.

The tournament will have up to 12 players. The Association may invite wildcard players to make up the numbers.

1st Prize: £200

Additional prizes may be added at a late date

Rate of Play:

All moves in 90 minutes plus a 30 second increment.

Players may request a half-point bye in any round other than the last at the time of entry.

Tie-breaks:
For all prizes other than the championship title all prizes will be shared.

In the event of 2 players tie’ing equal for the championship trophy a 2-game play-off will be held. The play-off will consist of 2 games of 10+3. In the event of the game still being tied after play-off an armageddon game will be played. The white time control for this armageddon will be 5min (no increment) and black will have 4min. Players will toss for colours. In the event of a draw the black player wins.

Default Time:

Default time will be 30 minutes.

Ratings:

All games will be submitted for ECF and FIDE rating.

ECF Ratings from the October 2026 ECF rating list will be used for pairing.

Broadcast:

The games may be broadcast via streaming and live boards, hopefully with live commentary.

By entering players consent to be potentially filmed. Players may be encouraged to give post-match interviews.
