Following the exciting introduction of Quiet Chess for autistic and Neurodiverse individuals, I can now announce that the tried and tested learning aid from Gochess is indeed “the way to go” when engaging with autistic and neurodiverse individuals.
The English Chess Federation has been supporting the outreach concerning neurodiverse individuals for over a year, and has just recently supplied 2 smart chess boards for Shropshire Quiet Chess.
This report amplifies the sheer excitement experienced recently in Shropshire’s Quiet Chess Clubs.
Individuals who before now have been either unable or reluctant to actually learn chess, have now been able to follow the Gochess smart board lights and play chess for the very first time without direct one on one supervision!
Now thanks to the English Chess Federation, individuals who would just numbly watch, are now able to extend their life experience by actually playing chess prompted by a magnificent smart chess board called Gochess.
The social impact is obvious, individuals on longer sit at home staring at a screen, but instead talk in a social environment, enjoying the positive nourishment of hearing strong supportive chat interlaced with chess talk, as I watch , I see their confidence levels rise, and watch their self esteem improve.
I can see already how happy certain individuals are when they leave Quiet Chess smiling, and how the new level of banter brings joy to my heart, I am exhilarated!

The Quiet CHESS CLUB at Unison Social Club (every Tues 6.00-7.30), and Brookside community Centre (every other Wednesday) now has 2 new smart boards!
These help you play by reminding you how the pieces move AND the squares light up to sow you the best moves, and ANY possible move.
