The rating lists of active Shropshire players are now updated. Care had been taken to include players within their current club but there has been an unprecedented movement of players between clubs this season. If you spot any innacuracies or ommissions (of which there will be some) please report this to [email protected] looking up ratings

Entries are now being taken for the Shropshire Open individual, a 7 round swiss over the board tournament played throughout the season with the winner crowned Shropshire Champion. Entries should be sent to Nick Rutter ([email protected]). Further details can be found here. Deadline for entries mid-October.

At the most recent meeting of the trustees the SCA safeguarding for young persons and vulnerable adults policy was approved and is available to read here. This policy is relevant to all clubs and individual members of the association. Any questions on the policy should in the first instance be sent to the SCA safeguarding

Round 1 of the FIDE candidates starts 19.15 tonight. The tournament is the final stepping stone for those seeking to challenge for the world championship.
