To say I am pleased with the way the open day went is a massive understatement!
There were 25 attendees including parents and Carers. I was so very happy to see some regulars there, but even more happy to see 9 new individuals. I was delighted to teach 2 young ladies to play chess. They continued to play and really enjoyed playing chess.
Part of the open day, was to play for “gold medals.” The whole idea was to “beat Paul in a challenge” and get a medal. I played 5 games and all the medals were won! A wonderful raffle prize of a knitted ‘grinch’ was won too, together with other prizes. If that were not enough, we all were treated to cupcakes and tea or coffee!
The photo below shows an oversized chess set being played, which was also very popular.
I feel that it is very likely that with the adults attending, the Club will be a great success once it opens again in September. I had a few people ask when the new Club will be open, and I said that it would be up to you once you had assessed the various availabilities. One young lady said that Monday would not be good though as she goes to Tech.
I promise to support this every fortnight or even every week, whatever you choose and whenever you choose.
I am excited for the future of the Club.
