Q: My child is too old to join the junior club. What are my options?
A: If your child is too old to join the junior club there are other junior chess clubs in Shropshire that accommodate older members
Q: How old are the members?
A: The club is open to ages 6-13 although the club will allow you to stay on until the end of the school year that you turn 13 (end of year 8)
Q: What happens when my child ages out of the junior club?
A: If your child ages out we will help anyone who wants to transition into one of the many adult clubs within the Shropshire League.
Q: Do you run during the holidays?
A: The club only runs during term times – see our calendar
Q: My child knows absolutely nothing about chess but wants to learn. Can they still join?
A: Yes. The club welcomes all abilities and we will try to give your child 1-1 coaching in the first couple of weeks until they learn how to work the pieces. However this may not always be possible with a busy club and so it is advisable if they can start to learn how the pieces move by themselves first.
