My child is too old to join the junior club. What are my options?

If your child is too old to join the junior club there are other junior chess clubs in Shropshire that accommodate older members (https://www.shropshirechess.org/junior-chess-in-shropshire/).

How old are the members?

The club is open to ages 6-13 although the club will allow you to stay on until the end of the school year that you turn 13.

What happens when my child ages out of the junior club?

If your child ages out we will help anyone who wants to transition into one of the many adult clubs within the Shropshire League.

Do you run during the holidays?

The club only runs during term times (see the club calendar).

My child knows absolutely nothing about chess but wants to learn. Can they still join?

Yes. The club welcomes all abilities and will give your child 1-1 coaching in the first couple of weeks until they learn how to work the pieces.
