the Shropshire League.
How to Join
As we are limited on space we have to restrict our membership to 20 members and so for new members we operate a waiting list. If you are interested in registering your child please fill in our registration form here and we will contact you if/when a space becomes available.
About us
Shropshire Chess Association was founded in 1894. For over 100 years we have a proud record of tutoring young Shropshire Players, many of whom go on to join their local club and are still active participants in the Shropshire Chess League decades later. Some of the players who have historically passed through our ranks have gone on to achieve international titles or represented England on the world stage.
Shropshire Junior Chess Club relaunched in 2021 with a brand new exciting venue and a new crop of volunteers, all of whom are eager to impart their knowledge to the next generation.
The club is proud to be one of only a handful of clubs officially recognized by the English Chess Federation via the ECF Development Pathway.
During term times we meet every Saturday 11am-1pm at the Nerdy Cafe located at 49 Mardol, Shrewsbury, SY1 1PP.
