FIDE have published the new rules of chess applicable from January 2023 including one change to the FIDE rapidplay rules. Traditionally an illegal move in rapidplay is punishable by giving two extra minutes on the clock. This has now been changed to one minute. Last Friday Chris Lewis and Tony Preece went head-to-head in a quiz as well as discussing the Hans Niemann cheating allegations on BBC radio Shropshire. Their encounter starts at 3:09 https://www.bbc.co.uk/sounds/play/p0cypsr2 The winner of that encounter will be a contestant on the radio again this coming Friday starting just after 9am.
