I found out this year that Alan Shaw sadly passed away a number of years ago. Alan inspired numerous current shropshire players in their youth to take up chess and was the inspiration behind the Nerdy Junior Chess Club. An obituary for Alan is now available here.

Entries are now being taken for the Shropshire Open individual, a 7 round swiss over the board tournament played throughout the season with the winner crowned Shropshire Champion.
