The winner has been announced for the 2022-23 Colin Roberts Memorial Prize for the best over the board game played by a Shropshire player last season. Taking the trophy is Tony Preece, who is awarded the prize for his game against Danny Griffiths.
There were eight entries and Tony’s game with a spectacular sacrifice leading to mate was a favourite among all three judges, Charles Higgie, David Hollands, and Nick Holmes. Two of them immediately picked it out as their choice for the prize, with the third having it as his runner up.
Arrangements will now be made to formally present the trophy.
Well done Tony!
