Similar to the Christmas simultaneous, Newport chess club will be holding the same event on 10th June. Below are the key details:

Start time: 19:30

Venue: Royal British Legion, Newport

Entry Fee: £5

Players giving simultaneous: 3

Refreshments: Buffet, drinks bought at bar

As you all can see, the entry fee is to pay for the buffet and has been reduced by £5 from the Christmas event due to not including festive prizes. All chess players will pay this apart from the three players giving the simultaneous. At this current time, Nick Rutter, Gavyn Cooper and Toby Neal have agreed to be these players.

Just in case members need to be reminded of the format they are as follows:

The three players, one at a time, will complete circuits of all games with no time allocation. All players taking on the three players will be playing with the black pieces. Each player only moves when one of the three players is at their board. However, three passes will be allocated to each player. These can be used if an individual needs more time to think about their moves. Basic rules, such as touch move and touch take, will be applied.

The Christmas simultaneous was a great success and had good support from other clubs. Hopefully this can continue for this upcoming simultaneous, particularly as it has been purposefully staged before the 2014 Brazil Football World Cup commences. Please can you all contact your club members to make them aware of this event. Can you also inform them that I need to know of numbers in order to let the Legion know how much food they need to prepare.
