Russell James (South Birmingham) is this year’s Premier winner with 4.5/5.

In round three Nigel Ferrington had prevented a perfect score with a draw against Russell.

It was left to Gavyn Cooper to fly the flag for Shropshire in the final round

where a win would have guaranteed a share of first prize but Russell won the deciding game.

Glyn Pugh (Coddon) won the major with 4.5/5.

 He seemed almost apologetic after winning saying Andrew Lake, who was half a point ahead going into the last round, just gave him a piece.

Geoffrey Lee (Newcastle-U-Lyme) won the minor with a perfect 5/5.

There were 96 entries this year, 9 down on last year. The room was set out as requested although due to the lack of tables some of the tables usually used for lunchtime were used for the games. With the reduced number this didn’t present a problem. Gareth decided to come down Friday night and consequently everything was ready on time. Dave Thomas was his usually calm self although the prize split gave him a headache for a while. The centre staff were helpful as always. Despite the reduced numbers the Prize fund was increased this year and we have broken even. Thanks to everyone who helped in whatever capacity (see below). I hope to see you all next year.
