Summer Cups Survey

At the AGM I was asked to sound out members for suggestions as to how our summer cup competitions can be improved. Ideally we would like all teams to compete in these prestigious events. Please discuss within your club - how could the events be staged so that all of your club teams are keen and able to enter? I will post your comments below. I hope that after discussion we can reach a consensus for a proposal to restore credibility to these events.- Keith Tabner 29/09/09

You're right that it's time for a rethink.
The Cox is a prestigious event and should certainly be retained but I've always thought that a major reason why we get so many defaults is that you can't plan for it because you never know when you're playing. What about running the rounds at one or two of the bigger clubs. It could be hosted by one Shrewsbury and one Telford club to reduce some travelling. We would then all know the exact schedule and which night the games were on. It might help reduce the number of defaults as captains would be able to get a team arranged before the league season finishes.
For the minor, why not try something different. A rapidplay event perhaps, condensed into a couple of evenings? Steve Rooney 29/09/09
